The Time is Near for the MX Sōl Food & Music Festival!
This fun and family friendly event will be open to the public and held on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at the Malcolm X Birthsite, a beautiful outdoor landmark in the heart of North Omaha. The Festival will be highlighting the importance of food security while providing opportunities to connect and strengthen community ties.
The committee in charge of coordinating this festival is filled with humility and gratitude for the opportunity to launch on the historic grounds of the Malcolm X Memorial Foundation. The conversation began a little over two years ago and we are thankful for all of the community support for such a meaningful event in our city! The MX Sōl Food & Music Festival serves as a catalyst for neighborhood residents, artists and activists to collaborate through methods of healing in order to build up our communal wealth. After visiting Jamaica, our committee members are charged with bringing a sense of empowerment with us after being inspired by an annual festival held there called Dis Poem Wordz & Agro Fest. (Learn more about that experience here).
Because we have a mission to help prepare our next generation with knowledge of these healing methods, we urge our extended family to participate.
Please do not hesitate to reach out should you have any questions. Links to purchase tickets or participate as a volunteer are below. We look forward to meeting you!
